Jerald D. Colony was born July 13, 1934, in Tiffin the son of Lynn and Mary (Pirkl) Colony. He attended schools in Iowa City graduating from University High School (U High). He was united in marriage to Marianne Wells on August 7, 1955, in Iowa City. Jerry has been self-employed most of his adult life, having Colony Crane Service, Colony Trucking, Excavating, House Moving, and many other lines of work that he did well. Truth be known, if you needed something done, Jerry was probably the man who could do it, or he would help you find who could, because he simply was that kind of person, willing to help until the job got done!
Jerry loved the Annual Iowa State Fair, and for many of these he worked as the police sergeant. He served on the Oak Hill Cemetery Board, but something so near and dear to him were animals. He loved all sorts of animals and was always willing to rescue another when there was the need. A good soul to both people and animals that was Jerry!

His family includes his three children, Calvin Colony, Judy Rohret (Frank) and James Colony; his sister, Mary Murphy (Clifford); nine grandchildren, Dan Colony (Angi), Drew Colony (Sarah), Cale Colony (Marissa), Elizabeth Colony, Jane Colony, Wyatt Colony, Kim Harris, Matt Rohret, and Mark Rohret (Paige Yager); great-grandchildren, Greyden, Shyah, Avianna, Audrey, Jett, Cade and Reece; sister-in-law, Betty Folkman and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marianne; sister, Helen Vesely; brother, Russell Colony; brothers-in-law, Dick and Clarence Wells and grandson, Jeremy Colony.
