Aloha “Jan” Dom, 94, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at Oaknoll Retirement Residence.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Oaknoll. A family committal service will be held at a later date at the Minocqua Memorial Cemetery in Minocqua, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthias Episcopal Church of Minocqua, WI, Trinity Episcopal Church, Iowa City IA or the Oaknoll Foundation.
Jan was born on March 20, 1925 in Omaha, NE the daughter of James and Aloha (Jenkins) McConnelee. She was united in marriage to Robert Dom on December 28, 1947 in Omaha, NE. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Jan received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. For many years Jan lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, Minocqua, WI. and Sun City AZ. In 2005 Jan returned to Iowa City to be near the family.
She was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Minocqua, WI, Trinity Episcopal Church, Iowa City IA. and was a P.E.O. Jan enjoyed time spent reading, gardening, playing golf and traveling.
Jan is survived by her two daughters, Sarah (Michael) Sobocinski of Coralville, IA, and Cris Steve) Wilson of Port Townsend, WA; four grandchildren, Graham (Claire) Wilson, Dan (Jac) Wilson, Nick (Christine) Sobocinski, and Anna Sobocinski. and three great-grandchildren, Teddy and Etta Wilson, and Nora Sobocinski.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert.
