Daniel C. Helmuth (Dan), 89, of Coralville, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Mercy Hospice Care in Iowa City.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Dan was born on November 7, 1929 in Kalona, Iowa to Christian and Mary (Miller) Helmuth. He was the youngest of 9 children.

Dan worked his entire career as an auto mechanic. In retirement he was a jack of all trades fix-it man, helped his neighbors with projects and did some home remodeling. There was no project he wouldn’t try. In retirement Dan and Reva went to Apache Junction, Arizona for the winter months. They lived there permanently for a brief time before relocating back to Iowa earlier this year.

Dan loved playing cards, dominos and bingo and most of all, he loved telling jokes and stories.

Dan is survived by his wife, Reva of Coralville; his children: Norman (Wanett) of Iowa City, Cheryl (Mike) Johnston of Des Moines, Brenda (Jim) Oskam of Newton and Angela Robinson of Cedar Rapids and 13 grandchildren. Dan is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
