Robert B. Swartzendruber, life-long Kalona area resident died of a heart attack Saturday morning, March 21, 1970 while fishing on the Mississippi river near Muscatine.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24 at the Kalona United Methodist Church at 1:30 o'clock with the Rev. James Bross in charge. Interment was made in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. The Peterseim Funeral service was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in Robert's name. Amvest Post 107 of Richmond were in charge of military services.
A son of Dr. J.R. and Emma Nimitz Swartzendruber, Robert was born October 27, 1922 and died at the age of 47 years, 4 months, and 24 days.
He was married to June Lemley of Washington on November 2, 1946. They farmed west of Kalona for a number of years and later southeast of Kalona.
Robert was a veteran of World War II, a member of Richmond Amvets Post 107 and the Kalona Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow and his mother. His father and a sister preceded him in death.IN MEMORY OF
