Alva Miller Taken In Death Tuesday Evening

Alva Miller, life-long resident of the Kalona community, died Tuesday evening, January 7, 1969 at Pleasantview Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, January 10 at 10 o'clock in the East Union Mennonite Church with J. John J. Miller in charge. Friends and relatives may call at the Peterseim Funeral Home until 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Sharon Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Miller was born November 21, 1887 on the farm at the northeast edge of Kalona which was homesteaded by his parents in 1857. He also farmed until his retirement. He was the son of David F. and Catherine Yoder Miller and died at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 16 days. On August 7, 1910 he was married to Ida Boller at the Jacob Boller home. She died November 30, 1957.
Survivors include one daughter, Freda of Wellman; two sons, Glenn and Gordon of Kalona; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Dan J. Fisher, Kalona. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
