Elsie J. Hook, 73, of 1310 Carroll Street, died Wednesday at Greenwood Manor Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 10:30AM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the Crisis Center or the American Diabetes Association.

Elsie was born March 9, 1932 in Iowa City, the daughter of Thomas L. and Julia Kick Blakley. She had attended Iowa City Schools.

Elsie had been employed at Owens Brush for thirty five years, retiring in 1994. Following her retirement she volunteered in the food bank at the Crisis Center.

Elsie was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 238. She enjoyed traveling and collecting elephants.

She is survived by her four children, Julie (Toney) Mulherin of Riverside, Iowa, Michael Maxey of Iowa City, Iowa, Leonard (Chris) Sedivec of Minot, North Dakota and Steven Sedivec of Oregon; her sister Nancy Oliver of Ottawa, Illinois; two brothers, Frank Blakley of Simms, Montana and Thomas Blakley of Haskins, Iowa; her sister-in-law Wanda Blakley of Riverside, Iowa; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Betty and her brothers Jake and James.
