Raymond “Ray” Edward Kutcher, 88, of Iowa City, died on May 12, 2019 at Briarwood Health Center in Iowa City.

A visitation to celebrate Ray will be from 4-7pm on Friday, May 17 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A graveside service with Military Honors will be at 11am on Saturday, May 18 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa. Family invites guests to join them for a lunch at the Oxford American Legion following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed toward the Oxford American Legion or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ray was born on September 4, 1930 in Oxford, Iowa, son of Michael and Alice (Sedlacek) Kutcher. Ray married Lorraine Yeries on February 5, 1951 in Oxford, Iowa and they have been married for 68 years.

In August of 1952, Ray enlisted with the United States Air Force and served with the 82nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron. Returning from service in 1956, Ray remained a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.

Ray was a journeyman with the Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company (now Mid-American) for 36 years, retiring in 1995.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; their two sons, Leo (Rebecca) Kutcher and Steven (Sue) Kutcher; six grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Andrea, Becky, Jaime, Josh and Sarah and fourteen great-grandchildren. Ray is also survived by many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Elmer and Earl Kutcher and his sister, Leona Koenighain.
