Michael W Cummings, 69, of Iowa City, passed away May 9, 2019 at Mercy Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Father Gary Beckman will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends Monday, May 13, 2019 at 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, where a time of sharing will begin at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, Mercy Hospice or Fraternal Order of Eagles #695.

Michael William Cummings, son of Francis and Gertrude (Hiebing) Cummings was born August 10, 1949 in San Francisco, California. He moved to Iowa City with his Mother and three siblings at a young age and graduated from Regina High School in 1968. Michael married Cindy Lenoch April 7, 1973 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. The couple later had three children and spent 46 humor-filled, but loving years together. He worked for Eagle Country Market in Iowa City before it closed and after 33 years, he retired as the Produce Manager.

Besides being a devoted Hawkeye fan, he was a member of the Iowa City Fraternal Order of Eagles #695 for 37 years, where he also volunteered. His family and friends were everything to him and time spent with his grandchildren was most important. Michael also loved fishing, camping, and drinking his favorite, Old Style or Black Velvet with Coke.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Cummings of Iowa City; two daughters, Andrea (Rob) Beeson of Riverside, and Michelle Cummings of Iowa City; one son, Marcus (Steph) Cummings of Iowa City; three siblings, Pat Davis, Mary (Jim) Michael and Frank Cummings; five grandchildren, Madison, Garrett, Edith, Sophia and Elsie, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, John Lenoch and a brother-in-law, Bob Davis.
