Nettie Walden, 93, left this life peacefully at home on Wednesday afternoon 4/17/19.

She was born in Center Point, IA on 9/29/25 to Dr. John Elzo and Marjorie (Connor) Newland and has maintained a sense of that place as her hometown. She raised 3 children with Glenn Clime—Victor, Alicia and Dede (Diettra)-taking great joy in parenting them all life long. She loved well and gave much to her family—Vic’s children Erica, Bradley, David and Matthew; Alicia’s children Bob and Brian; and Dede’s child Bree were all precious to her as were the children of her dear husband Buck Walden—Jerry (Sheila) and Tom. Her extended family includes her children’s partners and former partners—Sarah, Christine, Ted and Robin as well as 12 great-grand-children and her best-friend-tiny-poodle Buffy.

Nettie was full of love and lived to give. She was loved by her work-family at Protein Blenders and her fellow parishioners at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She opened her home and heart to many who became family and who have been blessed to call her Mom or Granny.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buck, and her two brothers Victor and Dietz.

She is part of all of us and we are grateful to have shared this life with her.
We will gather in memory and love later this year.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in her honor to the Crisis Center Food Bank or to Hospice of Iowa City.
