Roscoe A. Gardner 74, of Route 5, died Saturday in Mercy hospital at Iowa City after an illness of 2 years.

A resident of Johnson county throughout his life, Mr. Gardner was born Nov. 18, 1884, in Graham township, the son of Brewster and Mary Cochran Gardner. He was married to Edna Kauffman at Anamosa Oct. 22, 1929.

Survivors include his widow; 2 sons, Edgar and Bruce, both of rural Iowa City; a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Skriver, rural Iowa City; two grandsons, and a brother, Russell Gardner of Iowa City.

Services were held Tuesday at West Branch with the Rev. L. E. Baumann officiating. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clarence Kiser, Irvin Hier, Emory Wells, William Hahn, Andy O'Neil and Oscar Peterson.
