Donovan D. “Silver Bullet” Wright, 84, of West Branch, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at The Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Avenue (next door to Lensing Funeral Service).

A second visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Murdoch Funeral Home, 511 Main Street in Central City. Funeral services with military rites will begin at 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.

Born September 10, 1934 in Central City, Iowa, the son of Orville and Augusta (Baldwin) Wright, Donovan grew up in Central City. Graduating from Central City High School, he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Returning home, he completed his training and worked for the Iowa Highway Patrol / Iowa State Patrol for 30 years – retiring in 1996. Donovan later worked as a jail transport driver for the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department.

Donovan is survived by a son, Brian Wright of Muscatine; a daughter in law, Christine Phillips of Iowa City and two grandchildren, Liz Phillips and Sean Phillips, both of Iowa City; brothers, Keith Wright (Judy) of Prairieville, Wisconsin, Lonnie Wright of Garnavillo and Ronnie Wright of Cresco and many nieces and nephews.

Donovan was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Merle “Butch” Wright,
a sister and brother in law, Dixie & Leon Kelchen, his significant other, Donna Phillips, a son in law, Jay Phillips and a sister in law, Dorothy Wright.
