Richard Shannon, 63, of Iowa City, passed away on Monday, November 12 at his home.

A time for friends and family to celebrate Richard’s life will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, November 18th at The Sanctuary Pub in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family requests memorials be directed to One Iowa.

Richard was born on April 10, 1955, son of Herbert and Olive (Dinsdale) Shannon. For over thirty years Richard managed the book store for the University of Iowa. Richard enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and listening to Iowa Public Radio.

Richard is survived by his son, Matthew (Jessica) Shannon of Des Moines; his siblings: Steve (Martha) Shannon of Lexington, KY, Lynn (Lou) Foehrkolb of Schertz, TX, and Carol Shannon of Washington D.C.; his nieces and nephews: Jenny (Evan) Green, Robert Foehrkolb, Katie Shannon and Annie Shannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Olive Shannon.
