Thomas “Tommy” Ankrum, our gentle giant, passed away Thursday, November 2nd. He didn’t struggle.
It happened very quickly while he was at home with his kitty companion, Kimmey. He lived his life with gusto, and was loved by family, family of choice and friends. It will be difficult to fill his big shoes, but we will all try to follow his way, with moments of silliness and generosity.
Tommy was a custodian at Lake Forest (Illinois) Hospital and Clinics prior to moving to the Iowa City area in 2007.
Rest in peace, our big brother. Patty Ankrum of Mt. Vernon, IA, Janet (David) Mathena of Puyallup, WA and Peggy Fuhrman of Baltimore, MD; and Kimmey, his kitty who he loved like a child.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Dennis Ankrum and Mary Adams.

Tommy's remains will be buried with his mother at Calvary Cemetery in Webster City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family c/o of his sister, Patty Ankrum, P O Box 167, Iowa City, Iowa 52240
