Cyrus Orr, a pioneer resident of Johnson county, died at his home six miles east of Iowa City on Highway No. 32, Saturday evening at the age of 78 years. He had been ill for 10 days.

Mr. Orr was born in Benton, Ind., and when a year old was taken by his parents to Berlin, Pa., where they lived for five years, then came to Johnson county, and here Mr. Orr lived until his death. He married Miss Margaret A. Applegate in 1873, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Orr leaves five sons and two daughters, William Vance, Harrison, Charles W., Miss Ethel and Mrs. Ida Mae Murphy, all of Iowa City, Edwin C. of Downey and George H. of West Liberty.

The funeral was held from the Beckman funeral home in Iowa City, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. John Gray Rhind in charge. Burial was in Oakland cemetery, Iowa City.
