Richard “Scotty” Scott, 79 of Iowa City died Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the North Liberty First United Methodist Church.Visitation at the church will begin at 10 am, with church services at 11. After the service there will be a luncheon provided by the church and burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City will follow. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Scotty’s memory to the North Liberty First United Methodist Church.
Richard Charles Scott was born September 29, 1939 in Iowa City the son of Roy and Rose (Cerney) Scott. He was united in marriage to Iris (Melton) on December 9, 1961, in Rock Island Illinois. He has spent over forty years of his life driving trucks, for a number of companies including Western, Daufeldt and Wynne Transportation, and Sim’s Excavating. A self-taught man who could do anything, and he did it well! Nothing fancy about Scotty, a simple, hardworking, family loving man who enjoyed his model trains and the Chicago Cubs!

His family includes his dearest wife, Iris; 3 children, Kristi Stasi (Matt); Bob Scott and Bill Scott (Marla); 5 grandchildren, Courtney Lundquist (Zach), Jenna Scott, Jordan Stasi, Lauren Stasi and Abbey Scott.
