James Monroe Adams, one of the oldest settlers of Johnson county, passed to his reward on Saturday morning, Nov. 16, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. P. Hemingway, about five miles northeast of town, after an illness of over eight months.
The deceased is survived by a large number of relatives, the Adams family being one of the largest in this community. His health had failed rapidly of late and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Adams came to this country in the early forties with his parents and two brothers. There were six brothers in the family, the other three remaining in Ohio. Mr. Adams death is the last of this large family of men. He settled in the vicinity of Solon where his thriftiness and worth won him a place among the leading residents.
Funeral services where held at the home of Mrs. A. P. Hemingway on Monday afternoon, and also at the M.E. church at Solon, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, where interment was made.
