Mrs. Frieda Lindeman Hemsted, wife of Oscar S. Hemsted, formerly of Oasis, died at her home in Armstrong, Emmet county, Sunday, Jan. 10, 1904. She was born 33 years ago in Germany and came with her parents to America in 1891, settling at Unionville, Mo. The following year they removed to Oasis, Iowa, where in 1899 Frieda was united in marriage to O. S. Hemsted. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of 14, but after coming to America she was united with the Christian church and was a consistent member of the same to the end of her life. Although ill for nearly two years with consumption, her death was sudden and unexpected. A few minutes before her death she was conversing pleasantly with her husband. She was a favorite with all her friends, and was well known for her happy, pleasing and unselfish disposition. Two children, Meta and John Gustave, too small to realize their loss, are left without a loving mother's care. The funeral was held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Oasis M.E. church, and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. P. VanHorn.
