Howard Paul “Shorty” Goodman, 81, died peacefully Tuesday, July 31st following complications following surgery.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, August 4th at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Shorty was born September 4, 1936 in Iowa City, the son of Walter and Helena Butterbaugh Goodman. Shorty served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. On September 8, 1964 Shorty married Sandra Duttlinger in Moline, IL.
Shorty was a custodian at Iowa City City High School for 30 years. He loved cars and old country movies and country music. Most important to Shorty was his family.
Shorty is survived by his loving wife, Sandra and their three children, Pam Goodman of Iowa City, Sherrie (Mark) Kimbrough of Pittsburgh, PA, and John (Jennifer) Goodman of Washington; six grandchildren, Derek, Hayden, Chelsea, Taylor, Melissa and Megan; three great grandchildren, Brooke, Cayden and Maddox; his aunt, Bernice; his special granddog, Harley; and numerous extended family.
