Gary Lee O’Leary, 69, died peacefully Tuesday, July 24th at home.
Memorial Services will be held August 11th, Saturday at 1:30 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Father Gary Beckman will officiate. The family will greet friends from noon to 1:30 PM, prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will be at Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or to Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
Gary was born October 11, 1948 in Coralville, the son of Roy and Esther (Niemeyer) O’Leary. On October 12, 1979 Gary married Cynthia Rogers. Gary served in the US Army from 1968-1970.
He was a member of the Coralville American Legion and enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing, and camping.
Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy; four sons, Garry (Michelle) and Tim, both of Tipton, Jamie (Jessica Kelso) of Kalona and Jesse of Cedar Rapids; 6 granddaughters, McKenna, Madison, Margaret, Montanna, Maren and Emma; four brothers and five sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael and brother Ralph Niemeyer.
