Thesbie Jack was born on July 1st, 1845, at LaPorte, Indiana, and died on April 8th, 1914, aged 68 years. In 1854 she moved with her parents to Johnson county, Iowa, where she lived until three years ago. She was married to Samuel Tarbox on Jan. 19th, 1871, and was left a widow three months after her marriage, Mr. Tarbox dying in April, 1871.

Her life has been a very useful and active one, and she is known and loved by the entire community. For 29 years she lived in Oasis, energetic, efficient and a lover of good works. She has been missed by all since she moved to Kasson, Minn., three years ago with her niece and nephew, Coral Burke Thompson and husband.

Two brothers and two sisters survive her and mourn their loss: John Jack of Lisbon, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah J. Eaton of Shelton, Wash., Wm. Jack of West Liberty, Iowa, and Mrs. Celesta Burke of West Branch, Iowa.

Mrs. Tarbox had no children of her own, but she has had a faithful and devoted daughter in Cora Burke Thompson who has lived with her since childhood.

The funeral took place from the Oasis church Friday afternoon, April 10th, Rev. A. E. Coe officiating. Interment was in the Oasis cemetery. Among those who attended the funeral were: Mesdames L. C. Greene, Dolly Rarick, Cornelia Cowgill, Harley Anderson, W. A. Enlow and Jesse Munday, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Pennock, Miss Anna Knease of this place, Mrs.Thomas Seaton of Downey, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pratt, Mrs. Horace Saunders, Mrs. Art Younkin, Misses Tacie Thompson and Sarah Garvin of Iowa City, Wm. Jack and daughter of West Liberty, John Jack and wife and Grant Hemingway and family of Lisbon, Lewis Thompson and wife of Vinton.

The floral offerings were very profuse and beautiful.
