Elizabeth McConnell, daughter of Wm. and Samanthia McConnell, was born in Iowa City, Iowa, February 23, 1862.

She grew to womanhood in the parental home, having studied in Iowa State University following her graduation from High school. On Dec. 30, 1896 she was united in marriage to Mr. Andrew Hunter of Johnson county, Iowa, to which union were born four children. Since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter have lived on their farm near Oasis, Iowa, with the exception of three years in West Branch, having moved to West Branch only last spring.

In early girlhood, she had become a member of the Christian church, where she continued an active worker till becoming a home-maker near Oasis, since which time she has affiliated with the M.E. church of that place, though not changing her church membership.

Mrs. Hunter was a woman of culture and refinement, a capable homemaker, a fond mother, and a faithful wife and companion. She was ever interested in the welfare and happiness of others, as she was solicitous for the best interest of her own home and for the suitable education of her children.

After a brief illness she passed away peacefully in her home at West Branch, Iowa, at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 19, 1923, aged 61 years, 8 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, three children--Mrs. Helen Urbanek of Solon, Iowa, Marietta and Myron A., still at home, the oldest, a son, having died in infancy; also one sister, Mrs. M. S. Sutliff of Sunny Side, Calif., and three brothers, Frank of Garden Grove, Calif. Arthur of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Charles of Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held from the home in West Branch, Thursday, Nov. 22, by W. H. Wilson, pastor of the Friends church. Interment in Oakland cemetery, Iowa City, Iowa.
