John Donohoe, 72
John R. Donohoe, 72, of Stanwood, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, of cancer at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, with the Rev. William Meyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Nolan Settlement in Solon.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with a vigil service following. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Donohoe was born Aug. 14, 1925, in rural Solon to Patrick and Mary (Kessler) Donohoe. He was a 1943 graduate of University High School. He married Danna Lu Mowry on April 27, 1949, in Tipton. They lived in West Liberty and Clarence before moving to Stanwood in 1960. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Donohoe of Stanwood and Tom Donohoe of Machanicsville; four daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Patrick Hensel of Iowa City, Sandra and Tom Bianciotto of Chicago, Karen and Patrick Walsh of Cary, N.C., and Tracy and J. David Maher of Decorah; one brother, Francis Donohoe of West Branch; two sisters, Margaret Winter of San Diego and Marie Braddock of Bettendorf; 12 grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Lucile Mowry of Tipton; one brother-in-law, Robert Mowry of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; and two brothers, Bernard Donohoe and William Donohoe; died earlier.
