Michele Roof Covarrubias, 45, of North Liberty, passed away Tuesday, July 3rd at her home. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 5 PM, Monday, July 9th at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville with Rev. Alecia Hilmer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for her sons, Cristian and Ian.

Michele was born July 26,1972 in Iowa City, the daughter of Keith and JoDee (Goughnour) Roof. Michele was a 1990 graduate of West High School and received her A.A. from Kirkwood Community College. In 2001 she received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and in 2011 a master’s degree in business from the University of Phoenix. Michele was employed at El Cactus in North Liberty.

Michele is survived by her two sons, Cristian and Ian Covarrubias, and her parents, Keith and JoDee Roof, all of North Liberty; her brother, Pat and Suzie Roof and their daughter, Marleigh Roof of Marion; her former spouse, Juan Covarrubias of Coralville; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
