Oscar W. Smith, 91, of 3106 Rochester Ave, died Sunday, Feb 1, 1998 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a long illness.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial in Oakland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Mr. Smith was born March 1, 1906, in Iowa City to Oscar John and Anna A. (Fisher) Smith. He was a life-long Iowa City resident and farmer, owning farms in Iowa City and Hills. For the last few years, he lived with his niece and her husband, Stephanie and Demitris Tsevas, in their home.

Survivors include his niece and her husband's cousins. His brother died earlier.
