-----

In Memory of Mother Niffenegger.

WHEREAS, It has pleased Almighty God to remove from our midst our beloved sister and co-worker, Mother Niffenegger, one whose life was a great source of inspiration to us in our efforts, and while we deeply feel our loss, yet we bow submissively to the One who doeth all things well.

Mother Niffenegger's four score years were not spent in vain. In her early girlhood she united with the church in Switzerland and lived as she has died, a noble christian life. Death was no unwelcome guest, for during her last illness she often expressed the desire to depart and be with Jesus.

One seat is vacant, one hearty handshake is missed and one pleasant face is seen no more; yet, not so with her influence. It will go on, for the good book tells us that, their works do follow them. The militant host of God's elect has been increased because she has lived, but above all and best of all she is victor through Christ over the last enemy, for she could say in death, "I am going home." We not only hope, but we also believe, she has passed safely --

"To the land of pure delight,
Where saints immortal reign.
Where infinite day excludes the night
And pleasures banish pain,"
As a Sabbath school and Church can we not say with the poet --
"Mother, thou wast mild and lovely,
Gentle as the summer breeze,
Pleasant as the air of evening,
where it floats among the trees.

Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Here thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God that has bereft us.
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled;
Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tear is shed."
By order of the SHARON UNITED EVANGELICAL SABBATH SCHOOL.
