Steve was born July 27, 1961 in Iowa City, the son of Lowell & Joan (Hegland) Luhman. He was a lifelong Iowa City resident and attended Iowa City High School. Steve resided at Chatham Oaks but came home daily in the evening and for longer stays on weekends to spend time with his family and to enjoy listening to music which gave him much enjoyment. Steve was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City.

Steve courageously battled schizophrenia for many years. He was always very appreciative of others and was one of the most pleasant people to be around. He also very much enjoyed the pickup truck trips to the farm with his dad, where he mowed the grass acreage by a pond surrounded by 600 trees.

Steve is survived by his parents, Dr. Lowell & Joan Luhman of Iowa City; a brother David Luhman of Lone Tree; a sister Susan Luhman Keljo & her husband Reverend Kurt Keljo of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a nephew Jesse Keljo of Reynoldsburg and a niece Kirsten Keljo of Valparaiso, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
