Clifford Kinsinger, age 92 of Coralville, formerly of Iowa City died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Solon Nursing Care Center in Solon, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverends Kenneth and Lorraine Hartman officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Clifford’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for Clifford’s family through our website @www.gayanciha.com.

Clifford was born December 28, 1912 in rural Johnson County, Iowa the son of Jacob and Frances (Koshering) Kinsinger. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps. Following the war, he married Luretta M. Campbell on February 14, 1946 in Iowa City. For many years, Clifford worked for the Johnson County in road maintenance and later for over twenty-two years for the Iowa Department of Transportation in road maintenance. Clifford was a longtime member of the Solon American Legion, enjoyed his work with the road maintainer, assisting in the construction done at the Solon Ball fields, Lake McBride, and other work done in the county. He was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed camping, and playing cards, but most of all he loved his three granddaughters and his family.

His family includes his wife, Luretta of Coralville; daughter, Elaine Sortor of Davenport; son, Gary Kinsinger of Coralville; three granddaughters, Julie Kinsinger of North Liberty, Michelle Sortor of Rochester, MN, and Melissa Sortor and her fiancé, Sean McGinnis of Davenport; and one sister, Marguerite Kinsinger, of Wellman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ray and Earl Kinsinger; sisters, Gerti Webster and Jenni Kinsinger; and a son-in-law, Everett Sortor.
