Michael R. Bruss, 39, of Iowa City, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications related to Neurofibromatosis Type 2, which he fought for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

Mike was born on March 22, 1979 in Springfield, IL, the son of Joyce (Mansfield) and Robert Bruss. He was united in marriage to Jessica Jamison on May 19, 2002 in Iowa City. Mike worked for Bud’s Tire of Coralville for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and collecting arrowheads. Mike especially enjoyed barbequing, low and slow. He was a member of the NF2 Crew and The Children’s Tumor Foundation; Iowa Chapter.

Mike is survived by his wife, Jessica of Iowa City and their two children, Jeremiah and Holly Bruss; sister, Kristen McCann (Damarco Dyer) of Cedar Rapids and their son Leland Dyer; nephew, Nicholas Jackson of Springfield, IL; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rita and Larry Jamison of Iowa City; step-father, Michael Herndon of Salem, AR; and step-mother, Peggy Bruss of Springfield, IL.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Angela Bruss.
