Barbara Weiler, 67, of Iowa City, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City. Barbara will be cremated as per her wishes. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Barbara was born November 18, 1950 to Floyd Everett Smith and Annabelle (Etters) Smith in Clinton, Iowa. Barbara was a resident of the University of Iowa Hospital School throughout her childhood, and spent part of her summers at Camp Sunnyside near Des Moines. She later graduated from what has become the Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown, North Dakota and worked at the Skyline Center in Clinton. Barbara also lived in Iowa City for a brief period in the 1970's.

She married Ronald Weiler in Burlington, Iowa on May 7, 1977. They lived in Burlington, later entering assisted living there and in Ft. Madison, Iowa. Ron died December 10, 2005.

Most recently Barbara had lived at Briarwood Health Care Center. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas Smith (Teresa Kopel), of Iowa City, and was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Beverly Rhodes, the staff at Briarwood, and the staff from Essence of Life Hospice.
