MRS. SARAH ALT OF SHARON DIES
Funeral Services To Be Wednesday for Longtime Resident

Mrs. Sarah Alt, 80, a lifelong resident of the Sharon community, died at 9 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Miller, two miles east of Iowa City on the Rohret Road. She had been in ill health for some time.
She was born October 19. 1866, in Sharon township, the daughter of John and Fannie Miller Ressler, and was married to Peter Alt on March 12, 1885. The couple farmed near Sharon for more than 61 years, retiring five weeks ago when they moved to the home of their daughter and son-in-law.
She was a member of the Sharon Evangelical Church and the Women's Missionary Society.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Joe Lamuth, Kellogg, Idaho, and Mrs. Ray Smalley and Mrs. Miller of Iowa City; three sons, Roy and Oran Alt of Iowa City, and Ivan Alt of Riverside; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Schwimley, Wellman, Mrs. Emma Hessleschwerdt and Mrs. Cora Smith, both of Iowa City, and Miss Laura Ressler of Sharon; and two brothers, Henry Ressler of Sharon and Ed Ressler of Otis Orchard, Wash. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Oathout Funeral Chapel, with burial in the Sharon Evangelical Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Alt, 80, a lifelong resident of the Sharon community, died at 9:10 o'clock Monday morning, October 28, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Miller, two miles east of Iowa City on the Rohret Road. She had been an invalid for the past four years, but was in her usual health and Monday morning became suddenly ill and died of a heart attack.
She was born October 19. 1866, in Sharon township, the daughter of John and Fannie Miller Ressler, and was married to Peter Alt on March 12, 1885. The couple farmed near Sharon for more than 61 years.
