Carrie Marner

WELLMAN - Mrs. Carrie Mae Marner, 94, of Wellman, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 4 p.m., at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church with Revs. Elgin Howard and Albert Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman, after 4 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Wellman Baptist Church or to the Sharon United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Marner was born Oct. 1, 1879, in Johnson County, the daughter of Phillip F. and Annie Ressler Schwimley.
She married Lewis R. Marner, Dec. 25, 1902, at Sharon Center. He died in 1920.
The couple farmed in the Sharon Center area, homesteaded in South Dakota for four years and returned to the Wellman area in 1919.
Mrs. Marner was an assistant to Dr. E.D. Miller for a number of years. She was a charter member of WSCS, and a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mabel Winborn of Iowa City; a brother, Lee Schwimley, of Kalona; an aunt, Mrs. Cora Smith of Iowa City; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Ava, also preceded in death, in 1923.
