Lola Neumayer died of complications from Parkinson Disease at Pleasantview Home in Kalona, IA.
Lola was born at the farm home of her parents, Alice Lemmons Drake and Harry G. Drake in Gate, Oklahoma. She attended college at Alva, OK and Emporia, KS, receiving a Batchelor's Degree in Math from Emporia. She taught school at Englewood, KS, before marrying Lloyd B. King on March 1, 1930. She lived with her family at Hesston, KS, between 1933 and June 28, 1940, when the family moved to Oklahoma. She taught in Alfalfa Co., rural schools Highland and Green Plain and in the Helena School system from 1940 until she retired in 1973 as principal of the grade school in Helena. Her Husband, Lloyd, died in 1971 and she married Vernon Neumayer, October 29, 1983, moving with him to his home in El Dorado, Kansas.
Vernon died in May, 1993, and in October she moved to Pleasantview Home in Kalona, IA, where she lived until her death.
She was a devout Christian from the time of her baptism at an early age. She was active in the Methodist Church of Englewood, KS as a young person, in the Evangelical Church at Hesston, KS. from 1933 to mid-1940, and in the Helena Methodist Church as a member and Sunday School teacher from 1940 to 1983. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in El Dorado form 1983 until her move to Iowa.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Gay, brother Laurence Drake, her daughter Norma, her son Delbert. She is survived by her step-daughter, Eleanor Schrock of Kalona, IA, her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Cherry King, of Lanham, MD, her sisters, Louise Hamilton, of Wichita, KS, Kathryn Runkle of Millbrae, CA, and Mildred Warnaca of Shelton, WA, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank everyone who has been so supportive of them during this time of their loss.
