Lewis McFarlan Holliday
1943-2016

Lewis McFarlan Holliday, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida died on February 14, 2016. Lew, son of Robert and Virginia Holliday and loving husband of 50 years of Carolyn Stutsman Holliday, passed away after his balle with pancreatic cancer. The funeral service will be on Thursday, February 18 at Arlington United Methodist Church near Iowa City, Iowa.
Lew worked as Director of Taxes for Rayonier, Inc., until his retirement in 2005. Lew loved to fish and was a master of all crafts including wood working, auto mechanics, and gardening. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at Iowa State University, member of the Board of Directors of Bridgeport, Connecticut Habitat for Humanity, Tax Executive Institute, Arlington United Methodist Church, First Coast Fly Fishing Club, and Jacksonville Rose Society. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch CRC), Seattle, Washington, Attention Dr. Sunil Hingorani (Lewis Holliday Memorial) or Sharon Center United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn; three children: Leslie Groberman (Morris Groberman) of Bellevue, Washington, Brian Holliday of Denver, Colorado and Sarah McLaughlin (Samuel McLaughlin) of Arvada, Colorado; four grandchildren: Adam and Nicole Groberman and Collin and Jacob McLaughlin; brothers: Wayne Holliday (Suzanne Holliday) of Powell, Ohio and Andrew Holliday of University Park, Maryland; along with many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Lew is also survived by Ron and Virginia Stutsman, Roger and Sally Stutsman, Bill Tompkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lew's funeral will be at 1:00 Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, 2804 520th St SW, Kalona, Iowa. Friends may greet the family at a reception following the grave side service. Military Honors by Iowa City/Coralville American Legion.
Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.
