Ed was born in Riverside, the son of Harry and Neta Southwick Grout.
He and Marilyn Strickler were married May 23, 1949 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Ia.
Ed was a lifetime farmer, a livestock hauler and owner of Mister Ed's.
He loved his family, friends, and most of all his grandchildren. He also enjoyed mountains, horses, hunting and fishing.
Ed was a lifetime member of the South Sharon United Methodist (Grout) Church, and his memorial will be used for a clock in the church.
He was a member of the Hills Town and Country Club, Fellowship Masonic Lodge and Corona Chapter O.E.S. of Sharon Center.
Survivors are his wife, Marilyn, children and grandchildren: Ron; Kathy (Mrs. Buddy) Ulin - Robb, Russ, Rochelle, and Ron; Sandy (Mrs. Jim) Gingerich - Greg, Beth, and Aaron; Cherie (Mrs. Larry) Miller - Nathan, Chelsea, Stephanie and Tracy; Rick-Lucas, Tyler and Travis; Becky (Mrs. Bob) Ihrig - Amber and Kyle. Also surviving are two brothers: Lloid, Sun City, FL., and Earl of Iowa City; three sisters: Mae (Mrs. Don) Sullivan, Iowa City, Daisy (Mrs. Carroll) Chipman, North Liberty, and Doris (Mrs. Robert) Moore, Iowa City. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the love, sympathy and prayers extended to them during the past months and at present.
