Ruby Lucille Madden was born in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Hugh and Emma Grout Madden. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1933, attended the University of Iowa and graduated from cosmetology school.
Ruby and Donald E. Roberts were married June 14, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. Ruby practiced cosmetology in Cedar Rapids for a number of years. While living in Cedar Rapids she was involved with Cub Scouts and was active in the United Church of Christ. Ruby was an avid and successful golfer and bowler.
After moving to Arizona in 1969 she became a homemaker and continued to be active in the United Church of Sun City and the recreation events she enjoyed.
Ruby passed away in the Sun Health Hospice in Peoria, AZ., October 23, 2003.
Survivors are her son James Roberts of Phoenix, brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Don August 24, 2002, her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Feeny and Betty Schott, and one brother Harold Madden.
