Leo Maske, 89
Leo H. Maske, 89, of 1024 Highland Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at his home after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Cue officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Maske was born Aug. 16, 1912, in rural Washington County south of Wellman, the son of William and Lena (Schwab) Maske. He attended rural and Iowa City Schools and married Ellamae Hora on Jan. 23, 1936, in Iowa City. She died in October 1999. He worked at Oathout Funeral Home and the Hudson Garage before opening his own shop called Leo's Repair.
He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Johnson County Deputy Auxiliary, Iowa City Boat Club and the Iowa City Coast Guard.
Survivors include one son, Bob Maske and his wife Lyn, of Iowa City; three daughters, Carolyn Hotz and her husband, Marvin, of Lone Tree, Joan Dinnel of Iowa City and Beth Campbell and her husband, Kevin, of Kalona; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A son-in-law, Steve Dinnel, four brothers and one sister died earlier.
