Steven Dinnel, 57
Steven G. Dinnel, 57, of 1341 Hollywood Boulevard, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at University Hospitals of cancer.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with the Rev. Douglas Cue officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation; memorials may be made to Dinnel Grandchildren's Education Fund.
Mr. Dinnel was born May 18, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, to Gale Wetzel and Dolores Margaret (New-House) Dinnel. He grew up and recieved his early education in Cedar Rapids. He then moved to Riverside, where he graduated from Riverside High School in 1961. He worked for a short time for a local lumber company. He married Joan J. Maske on Aug. 17, 1963, in Iowa City. They lived in Iowa City, where he worked at the University of Iowa power plant for many years. In the mid-1970s, he started at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a refrigeration mechanic, where he worked for 25 years, retiring in January, 1999. He helped Crane Apartments with various tasks in his spare time.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike Dinnel of Iowa City and Marc and his wife, Jammy Dinnel of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Nikki and her husband, Andy Fuhrmeister of Iowa City, and two grandchildren, Jon-Michael and Madaline.
His parents died earlier.
