Glen Yoder, 73
Services for Glen Yoder will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sharon Center United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Yon Schoenmaker officiating. Family will greet friends at the church after the service.
Mr. Yoder, 73, of Iowa City and a winter resident of San Benito, Texas, died Tuesday two miles west of Los Fresnos, Texas, in a car accident.
The body has been cremated. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, where there will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations will go to the Sharon United Methodist Church or Gideons International.
Mr. Yoder was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Johnson County, son of Omar R. and Emma C. Petsel Yoder. He married Marjorie Snider Feb. 4, 1939, in Dubuque. He farmed for many years and was a manager of the Sharon Telephone Company for 25 years.
He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and chairman of the church building committee. He sang for 50 years with the church choir. He was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge No. 549 and the Kalona Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Sharon. He also was a member of Gideons International.
He is survived by his wife of rural Iowa City; two sons, Dale of Maquoketa and Dean of Iowa City; three sisters, Mabel (Mrs. Orville) Hora of West Branch, and Emily (Mrs. Wayne) Roberts and Charlotte (Mrs. Russell) Lackender, both of Iowa City; two brothers, Ted of Camanche and Alan of Fort Wayne, Ind., and seven grandchildren.
Two brothers died earlier.
