8 May 1930 - West Branch Times

John Connor, Johnson county farmer, 59 years old, committed suicide shortly after noon on Saturday. John Connor, Jr., his son, found the body hanging in the barn of his farm five miles west of West Liberty near the county line between Johnson and Muscatine counties.

A physician was summoned but Mr. Connor had been dead for more than an hour when he arrived. The Johnson county coroner was notified and he stated that there would be no inquest held.

Surviving are the widow and two sons, Carlos of near Iowa City and John, aged 15, at home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at West Liberty, Rev. W. A. Smith officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Ill health and business worries have been advanced as the cause of his act. The Connor family have been residents of this community for more than 25 years, living for some time at Springdale.
