Frederick K. Horning, 84, formerly of Coralville, passed away on January 12, 2018 at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

A Service of Celebration will be held at Parkview Church in the small sanctuary on February 19th at 11:00am.

Fred was born on February 15, 1933 in Kearny, New Jersey. In 1958, he married Joan Anderson the love of his life.

For 35 years, Fred served in the United States Navy and flew all over the world during his service. Fred also worked for Beckman Instruments as a service technician keeping vital tools and equipment calibrated that are used in healthcare and science communities. His hobbies included woodworking and fishing.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Joan and their five children; William (Debra) Horning of Coralville, Robert Horning of Coralville, Jeff (Nicole) Horning of Iowa City, Wayne Horning of Coralville and Suzanne (James) McCoy of Troy, TX; his grandchildren Elizabeth (Brian) Lowe, Nicole (Jeff) Vaughn, Kiriana Horning, Aaron Horning, Sara McCoy and Samuel McCoy; his great grandchildren Paisley Vaughn, Lisa Lowe and Jace Vaughn and numerous extended family friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Kent and his father Joseph Horning.
