24 January 1907 - West Branch Times

On Monday, Jan. 21, Geo. Wieder, living north of Oasis, went with team and wagon to Iowa City. He left home apparently in his usual health. On his return trip home he stopped in the village of Morse and ate supper at the hotel, and then resumed his journey home. But somewhere between there and his home his earthly life came to an end, apparently without a struggle. When the team reached home with his body in the wagonbed, the family found him to be dead. The doctor declared that it was due to heart faiure.

Rev. H. F. Dorcas of Oasis conducted the funeral services at the family residence Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24. Interment was made in the Oasis cemetery.

George Wieder was born in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, Oct. 16, 1869. When about five years of age he came with his parents to Iowa, and spent the remainder of his life in or around Iowa City. He was baptized and brought up in the Reformed church. October 25, 1882 he was married to Sarah Speight. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, one son and two daughters, also his aged father, three brothers and three sisters. George was a man of kindly spirit, and a large warm heart. He won to himself a multitude of friends, who will miss his genial freindship. And now in this affliction which has come upon the family so suddenly, all these friends have truly heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved ones.
