Donna M. Lodermeier, 84, originally of Royalton, MN passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Solon Care Center in Solon, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am-10:30 am prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Donna was born on December 26, 1932 in Little Falls, MN, the daughter of James C. and Adella C. (Burggraff) Retka. She was a graduate of the 1950 Class in Royalton, MN. Donna was united in marriage to Patrick L. Lodermeier on May 6th, 1952 in Royalton, MN. She was a long-distance operator for Northwestern Bell from 48-52, for 7 years she was a leader for Weight Watchers, and for 10 years she worked for Drugtown at Hy-Vee. Donna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City, Christian Mother’s Society and Rosary Society in Royalton, MN, Catholic Women, NCO (Non-Commissioned Officers) Wife Club, and was elected to Representative for Solon Assisted Living Center. She was very active in PTA, serving as President in Royalton, MN. Her husband’s career in the military resulted in them moving 25 times.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick L. Lodermeier in the year 2000; infant son, Patrick L. Lodermeier Jr.; her father, James C. Retka; mother, Adella C. Retka; brothers, Henry Retka, Dominic Gerbi, James Retka Jr and Francis Retka.

Survivors include her two sisters, Bernadette Wasson and Sue (Mel) Oelrich; and brother, Bob (Carol) Retka. Donna’s additional family members; six children, Larry (Rhonda) Lodermeier of Owatonna, MN, Debbie (Dennis) White of Colorado Springs, CO, Becky (Joe) Krob of Solon, IA, Daniel (Nancy) Lodermeier of West Des Moines, IA, James (Brenda) Lodermeier of Milwaukee, WI, and Robert (Christy) Lodermeier of Seattle, WA; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; are here today because two people fell in love.

Memorials may be made to The Solon Retirement Village Foundation.
