Rosemary Kinney, 86, of Oxford, passed away at Parkview Manor in Wellman on Wednesday, November 15th surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cosgrove, with Father Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19th at the church parish hall with a rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be directed toward St. Peter’s Cemetery and the Iowa City Catholic Worker House.
Rosemary was born on April 14th, 1931, in Dolliver, Iowa, daughter of M.W. and Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Tredway. Following high school, Rosemary went to Iowa State Teacher’s College, The University of Iowa and Cedar Rapids Business College. For 18 years, Rosemary was a bookkeeper and manager at the University Safety Shoe Shop before retiring in 2001.
On July 24th, 1961, Rosemary married the love of her life, James “Jay” Kinney at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, IA. Rosemary enjoyed reading, sewing, writing, gardening and yardwork, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Rosemary was a member of St. Peter Church, Cosgrove and was an active member in the Altar and Rosary and Foresters. She enjoyed fellowship with her “club” friends.
Rosemary is survived by her loving children: Patricia (David) Lang, Ellen (Bert) Struzynski, Kevin (Debbie) Kinney, Terry (Stephanie) Kinney and Mary Margaret (Kelly) Beckler; her 11 grandchildren: Scott (Joanie) Lang, Jeff (Janice) Lang, Mark Struzynski, Jason (Kristen) Struzynski, Beth (Ryan) Hahn, Shaun Kinney, Megan Kinney, Madeline Beckler, Rachel Beckler, Corey Coulson and Shannon Rouse; her 11 great-grandchildren: Jake, James, Steven, Rachel, Maria, and Jenna Lang, Matilda and Gretchen Lang, James Hahn, Zoey Struzynski, and Roman Rouse and her brother, Miles Tredway. She is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, M.W. and Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Tredway; her husband, James “Jay” Kinney; her brother Dudley Tredway and his wife Donna and her sister-in-law, Rose Tredway.
