Sharon I. Bryant, 73, died peacefully Saturday, October 21st at the Mercy Iowa City Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 27th at 1 PM at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Rd, Coralville. Rev. Jacque Berlien will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1 PM Friday. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Sharon was born March 20, 1944 in Oregon, the daughter of Floyd and Nadine Castle. The family soon moved and she was raised in the Des Moines area. Sharon married Paul Bryant on September 25, 1987 in Newton.
Sharon was a 120-hour certified CNA and worked for Hospice the first few year after moving to the Iowa City area in the late 1980's. She was most proud of her time as a Manufactured housing dealer which she and her husband open in 1995, of which she was the most proud of to be a successful business owner, helping people into their first homes until health issues caused her retirement in 2010. She had a great love for her pets, especially Gordy her Yorkshire Terrie who was her fisherman that would catch his own fish. Bear Bear her motorcycle dog that rode with her on the Harley Davidson, and Chewbacca who has been her companion and protector the past 2 plus years. Sharon enjoyed time spent camping, fishing and boating with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; her children, Greg Groomes, Kevin Groomes and Curtiseena Jackson; her siblings, Roger Castle and Bernice Herrick; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her step-son, Jeremy Bryant, daughters, Helen and Gwendolyn, and her siblings, Walter, Le Roy and Leonard Hildenbrand and Keith Castle.
