Shirley Jean Elam, 89, of Iowa City, passed away on September 7th at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion.

Shirley has donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. No services are planned at this time.

Shirley was born on May 27th, 1928 in Iowa City, Iowa; daughter of Nicholas and Emma (Yohn) Yoder. On June 16th, 1948, Shirley married W. Joe Elam at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and decorating wedding cakes. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson.

Shirley is survived by her three children; Marybelle (Robert) Luckason, Jeffrey Allen Elam and Heidi (Eric) Brodersen; her granddaughter, Erin Abbey (Mark) Brodersen Bailey and her sisters, Virginia (Darry) Kellogg and Yavonne Carralee Buccalo. She was also survived by numerous friends and extended family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Claudene “Dene” Wilson.
