Louis Sexton, 82, of Rural Iowa City began his new life with his Lord on Saturday, January 15, 2005, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at10:30AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2301 East Court Street, Iowa City, with the Rev. Timothy Zimmerman and Rev. Harold Scheer officiating. Burial with military honors by Lone Tree American Legion and Riverside Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6414 will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the American Legion Hall in Lone Tree.

Friends may call from 4 to 8PM Tuesday at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

Louis was born May 14, 1922 in Richmond, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Victorine Gerot Sexton. He married Viola Louise Blum on August 16, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Chapel in Iowa City.

He served his country during World War II as a Flight Engineer in the 13th Army Air Force. Following his military service, he and Viola farmed and raised their family in Pleasant Valley Township of Johnson County. Louis was a member of the Lone Tree American Legion #457, serving as its financial officer. He was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Iowa City, and was a member and treasurer of the Lutheran Layman’s League.

Louis is survived by his wife Viola Louise; five sons, Jerry Louis (Patricia) Sexton,
Richard Jacob (Trisha) Sexton, Allan Andrew (Catherine) Sexton all of Lone Tree, Tommy Lee (Leanne) Sexton of Riverside, IA, and Brian James (Theresa) Sexton of Iowa City. Three brothers; Claude, Clayton (Jeanette), and Marion (Josefina) all of Riverside. One sister Gladys Hermann of McAllen, TX. Sixteen Grandchildren, Russell, Angela, Sheila, Samantha, Stacey, Jamie, Christa, Jacob, Jennifer, Corisa, Jason, Shelbi, Colin, Nicholas, Alex and Lacey; twelve great-grandchildren, Gabe, Isabella, Garrett, Drake, Gregory, Morgan, Andrew, Devyn, Sydney, Liam, Haelen, Erica.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fay and Roy Sexton of Texas.
