Evelyn L. Hatcher, 91, of Coralville and formerly of Iowa City and Tipton, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Coralville.

Visitation will be Monday from noon to 2:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A graveside service at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Glenwood School Activity Fund or Christmas Gifts for Glenwood School.

Evelyn was born on February 11, 1926 in Iowa City, the daughter of Leonard and Elsa (Hopp) Dohrer. She was a 1944 graduate of Iowa City High School, where she was on the honor roll.

Evelyn graduated from The University of Iowa Nursing School and worked as a Registered Nurse at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Evelyn was united in marriage to Harold Hatcher on September 24, 1949. The couple later divorced.

She was a former member of the Tipton Bible Church, where she volunteered in the church circle. Evelyn also was a 4H volunteer and a member of the Lutheran Nurses Guild. She was active in The Sweet Adelines. She also worked at the lunch counter at S.S. Kresge’s in downtown Iowa City.

Evelyn is survived by her six children, Carl Hatcher of Cedar Rapids, Rosemary (Terry) Harmon of Iowa City, Dean Hatcher of Glenwood, Iowa, Norman Hatcher of Jensen Beach, Florida and Clarence, Iowa, Andy Hatcher of Blue Grass, Iowa and Evan (Brenda) Hatcher of Muscatine.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Erik Harmon, Bronson Harmon, Brandon Hatcher and Cody Hatcher; a brother, Donald Dohrer (Joan) of Auxvasse, Missouri; a sister, Lorna Grabe of Sisters, Oregon; a brother in law, Gerald Milder of Iowa City and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Merlyn Dohrer and a sister Pauline Milder.
