Naida Lois Brown
Friends and family will gather at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 10, at 2521 Blackhawk Avenue NW Oxford, IA to celebrate the life and love of Naida Lois Brown of Iowa City.

Naida died suddenly at her home on Saturday, June 3rd, after a heroic 9-year battle with cancer. She succumbed a week after her son, Jared, graduated from West High School, an event she was determined to experience with her family. Naida was the wife and business partner of Michael Termini and a dedicated and fierce advocate for their two sons, Blake and Jared Termini. She haled from Portales, New Mexico, where her parents were farmers and ranchers and she was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Portales High School, obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and went on to receive a law degree from San Diego University in San Diego, California. Her legal career of 32 years primarily focused on business litigation under her law firm, Brown & Termini.

Naida, and her husband, Michael Termini, moved to Iowa City, from Santa Monica, California, in 1999 to raise their two young sons, Blake and Jared, in the heartland and to be close to family. While in Iowa City, Naida and her husband both continued to practice law, but also established several other businesses. Naida always brought her creativity, unstoppable work ethic and commitment to excellence to each new endeavor. Her analytical skills, combined with a keen sense of artistic design, shaped the presentation of their products. In addition to the love for her family, Naida loved animals and beloved pets in the Brown-Termini household were often the kittens that Naida rescued and raised with her boys.

Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Naida also played a substantial role, working with Tim Terry and other board members, to expand and modernize the current Willowwind Elementary School in Iowa City. As a long-term board member, she was instrumental in helping to create and execute the plan to bring Willowwind from its original space at 226 Johnson Street in Iowa City, to its leading-edge facility at 950 Dover.

Naida is survived by her husband, Michael and their two sons, Blake (his partner Kayla
Karegianes) and Jared; her sisters Glenda Balas of Ovilla, Texas, Eva Stevens of Portales, New Mexico, Carolyn Brown of Iowa City, Iowa and Brother Wesley Brown of Floyd, New Mexico. She is a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Verla and Delbert Brown, of Portales, New Mexico.
