Douglas A. “Doug” Robertson, 55, of Iowa City, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Atrium Village, Hills. A Funeral Service will be held 3 PM, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City with Father Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to create a scholarship with the Iowa City School District.

Doug was born in Iowa City, IA, the son of Donald and Ellen (Huffer) Robertson. He graduated from West High School and received a certificate in Architectural Drafting through Kirkwood Community College. Doug was united in marriage to Karen Babcock on May 24, 1986 in Iowa City. He worked for The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic for 21 years before leaving due to disability. Doug was a volunteer for Grant Wood Elementary and UIHC. He was also active in Relay for Life. Doug had a sweet and gentle demeanor, willing to help anyone in need. He especially enjoyed helping children. He always maintained a positive attitude while battling every ailment thrown his way.

Doug is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Andrew (Amanda) and Tyler (Bailea Prosser) both of Iowa City; three grandchildren; mother, Ellen of Coralville; two brothers, Dallas (Carole) and David (Cindy) both of Iowa City; and many extended family.

Doug was preceded in death by his father and sister, Diana.
