Lester C. Orr, 85 of Waukon, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Winneshiek Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

A time of visitation will be held from 2-4 pm, Tuesday, May 30th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Private graveside services will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Online condolences may be shared with Lester’s family at www.gayandciha.com.

Lester Charles Orr was born August 26, 1931, in Grinnell, Iowa; son of Charles W. and Alice (Ohl) Orr. Lester graduated from West Liberty High School and served an enlistment in the Army Reserves. On July 10, 1953 he was united in marriage to Jean Walters at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Lester spent most of his working career at Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City; and after retirement he and Jean moved to Waukon.

They traveled extensively throughout their lives, and he enjoyed time trout fishing, tree farming and was a talented wood and metal craftsman and a long-time participant and supporter of Future Farmers of America.

His family includes his wife, Jean; daughter, Jan Welsh (Bob) of Cedar, MN; sons, Steve Orr (Shirley) of Story City, IA and Carl Orr (Merry Jo) of Shakopee, MN; sisters, Anna Kria King of Los Angeles, CA and Mary Post of Tualatin, OR and three grandchildren, Tory Welsh, Jack Orr and Mitch Orr. He was preceded in death by his parents.
